Knight Slayed 2018-73

Written when the mission was just existing in life, and this came to mind. Not sure now, of the exact reason of what the intent was; to make a point perhaps. Do people look at life this way, as I did so many years ago? It is a wonder I did not succumb to a downward trend and end up like the knight.

Knight Slayed  2018-73

Upon the mighty steed he went

looking forward, toward the fight.

Dressed in shining white he traveled,

to hunt, to make the dragon bleed.

With good intentions and mind naïve

a promise to save mankind, at least.

The people cheered and rallied him on,

to stay the course toward the beast.

He told them all he would not fail,

or fall from favor to them all.

His goal was honorable, or so it seemed,

the mission not quite the Holy Grail.

Truth shall win he yelled, so let us begin,

as he charged toward the fray.

A moments respite then the battle was begun,

no fun, but fair, he thought he knew.

A parry here, a jab there, a start;

a two-way beginning of a witches brew.

No magic Merlin to help his cause,

only him to combat the brute.

In a second of time, an infinity to some,

the knight lay withered on the ground.

The dragon reared upon his legs, looked down,

and sneered at the puny form of man.

“How dare you fight the master of life;

the system always wins.”

Alone 2018-59

Alone 2018-59
So I started. What? Well, I began to think about what was going on around me, away from me, and, within me. What did I realize? I am basically alone, even if married to a wonderful person. I am still myself, even though I am near somebody; I am alone, even when (of course) I am not near anyone, and my Self is by itself within me.

What! How can this be? What does it mean? How will I accept this statement? Again, what does it mean?

I am an individual and nobody, no one, no anything can change that fact. We are ALL like islands in the ocean, separate, but part of the whole, way down below. Our base roots go further than what we see on the surface above. We are grounded as part of the big picture of life. We cannot change that; a fact..

We like to think that our existence is part of the larger in life, but we are still just, a separate organism or form of life composed of mutually interdependent parts that maintain vital processes. These have properties and functions determined, not only by the properties and relations of its individual parts, but by the character of the whole, that they compose and by the relations of the parts to the whole. Whew!!

We are NOT stuck to one another. We have separate ways of life, but still interact with others, to a degree. God gave us free will to do as we desire with our actions causing repercussions and consequences.

We have brains to think things out, to rationalize, to vocalize, to act out and, at the same time, NOT do any of those things. We have choices, we can make decisions, or we can vegetate and do nothing in a dull, inactive, idle, unchallenging way.

But in the end, we ARE alone. We have a final journey to make at some time, that will be, ours to own and it will be what we make it then, by what we do now in this lifetime. I do not KNOW what will be then, but I have some insight to a degree.

I remain, basically alone, but with people that love me and whom I love. These are my family, my friends, my neighbors, and, well, most people. They have their moments of aloneness, that they must cope with and I wish them well. I will survive, and I will do so, hopefully, to live again in an environment that will be something to experience beyond belief.

Peace be with you,

INSPIRED THOUGHTS OF EXISTENCE 2017-55

INSPIRED  THOUGHTS OF EXISTENCE 2017-55

What is the purpose of our existence on Earth? What are we supposed to do (or are we required to do) while living our lives in this wonderful place called home? Do YOU think we should be active about living out our lives in a way that precludes going forward to another level of existence? I guess these are idle thoughts that came to mind, so will pass them on……

Could it be that we are given the chance to expose ourselves as we are today that will foretell if we have an extended tomorrow, therefore making our today a preamble of life with, again, a purpose?

As a U.S. Marine, I went through basic recruit boot camp training, and learned many things that trained me for my existence in the Corps for four years. There were rules and regulations to follow, guidelines to adhere to, and disciplines dictated that made us tow the line while in uniform.

Is our life on Earth as a child of God similar?

As a Christian, we had a teacher that showed us the way in life. Before Him, long ago, Commandants set the standard as to how to behave, how to act, and not act, and overall, how to be the child of God in everyday life.

Jesus, the teacher, the Christ or Messiah, had a short time to give us the many instructions on what it takes to be called a child of God for eternal life.

Therefore, we are on a daily regimen of how to present ourselves and how to live up to expectations of how God dictates this life. Call it a “boot camp” of life for a future life of living.

This is NOT an easy take for granted experience. We WILL make mistakes!  We Will fall down, we WILL stumble again and again, BUT we are to know that here on Earth, is where we are to make the earthly dumb mistakes, over and over and over. When we graduate from the trail of life here, we get the graduation  to eternal life as a reward.

Our lives NOW, are a precursor to the future. The purpose of living now, is to prepare ourselves to living for eternity in a way that is acceptable to where we will be going.

Are we up to this?  Time will tell!!!

Peace,

Granting of Life 2017-27

So EASY to do, taking life for granted!!! We all expect tomorrow to arrive, life to go on, and on and on…….  I sometimes sit and contemplate life in general, my life and lives of others I know.  It is NOT a given, something that will never end, but is something to appreciate while we have it here on Earth.

Granting of Life   2017-27

Taking life for granted, at times,

is an easy thing to do.

The repetitious existence we live,

a sameness, of happenings –nothing new.

The birds flying by, making noise,

and bees buzzing – creating honey

The grass needs cut again, of course;

girls being annoyed by little boys.

All our senses gather data each day,

sometimes not as good as before,

But with a sensual diminishment,

consider if they were taken away.

Knowing what we are born with

and then learn to improve with time.

The walking, running and everything,

is now a normal expected thing.

If taken away, any will be missed,

when something was always there.

The parting is not fair, and really

should have been more appreciated

Enjoyment of Life 2017-26

How should we enjoy life?  Many go about their lives, living from day to day, in an existence of getting just by, from daylight to nighttime. BUT, do we enjoy our lives in the middle? Do we enjoy our reality of living life in the fullest until the end of our human span of living? I like to envision my life now, as one that has a purpose with no promise of tomorrow, but with an enjoyment of today, good, bad or indifferent; but always as full as can be…………..

Enjoyment of Life  2017-26

Death is not a stranger

but instead is one to be recognized

as being in our midst.

Not wanted or loved,

but acknowledged as being part

of our existence.

A final act in the play of life itself.

Tomorrow is not a promise,

yesterday was a gift,

Today should be enjoyed

for and how it is.

Fragile Earth 2017-16

                                          Fragile Earth   2017-16

We, or some of us, take the planet we call Earth for granted at times. It has been around for such a long time we believe it will stay the same forever.  Or we hope.

We expect the Earth to continue to act like it does, going around the Sun, revolving each 24 hour day, having seasons occur like they do, etc.

IF we continue to pollute like we do overall, IF we stay the course on using up Earth’s resources that could be changed, IF we treat the Earth like an untapped vessel of goodness and wealth, we will find out eventually that we made a mistake.

Another thing, we live on a moving vessel that travels, again, around the Sun. That travel makes our seasons, makes our days and nights be a reality.

I ask, do YOU think this is a quirk of nature, that just happens or is there another reason we exist as occupants of a moving entity? I read a book, “More Than a Carpenter” by Sean McDowell that was telling his life story and trying to convey the fact that there was a man named Jesus, who was the Son of God and also a God that exists. I suggest anyone that has doubts, read this book.

In it, the scientific question comes up about various things that are doubted by many, namely Atheists. I will not spoil the results of his answers for you; again read the book.

One thing or question asked about our domicile name Earth, is thus. IF gravity were to deviate in a very small way, Earth would not be habitable. It had to be fine-tuned to one part in 1040, and that amounts to 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. The most economical and reliable explanation for WHY the universe is so precisely fined-tuned is because a Creator—- GOD—- made it that way.

There are other questions like this, but read the book and be enlightened. I dare you!!! Well, not really, but it was an interesting read and was inspiring to me. We would not exist if many things were to happen; both natural and manmade.

Our existence, again, is fragile, both individually and worldwide in scope. Climate change, per the scientists is a real concern, a real problem for us inhabitants.  Saying it is not so, we can do, but we also will suffer the consequences if we are not correct.

Life’s Questions 2016-13

My mother was a writer of poems and submitted some to local contests. She never received a mention that I know of, and always told me how she HATED those that won, with poems that made no sense to her. Maybe the following poem that I wrote is the same and she is grinding her false teeth as I speak, from the hereafter; don’t know……

Life’s Questions 2016-13

The equation in life is but a paradox,

It sits on the verge of reality.

A balance, a draw either way,

From knowing or being lost in a void.

Multitudes of signals transpire,

With highlights of supposition.

The answer is but opinion,

One to be recognized for what it is.

It remains, as to who really knows all things,

Of life, with its totality of questions.

Who is to know what reality really is

From an existence that has so many inconsistencies?
